Sharon & Damian have been Hunter Valley locals all their lives, purchasing the property on Lovedale Rd in 1976. After building their home in 1982, now their unique wedding venue, they opened Leaves and Fishes’ restaurant in 2004. Since then it has become one of the most unique, and most visited restaurants in the Hunter Valley. With a great community of Hunter Valley regulars and also from abroad, the team at Leaves and Fishes has grown and evolved, aiming to stay on the edge of what is current and exciting in Australian dining.

Focusing on seafood, with an Asian kick, Leaves and Fishes started when co-owner Damian Burke began growing his own Silver Perch in the dam below Leaves and Fishes’ front deck. Harvesting and serving them in the restaurant, Sharon and he designed and built together, they became one of the first seafood restaurants in the Hunter Valley region. Offering good, fresh food in a friendly atmosphere has always been their continued goal.

They expanded Leaves and Fishes’ unique approach to dining with Feast, an intimate, private environment for unique weddings and events. Catering for up to 80 people they specialise in relaxed, stylish dining with plenty of room to relax and enjoy with friends and family.

The Boathouses, Leaves and Fishes’ accommodation, was then opened in September 2010, offering luxury, couples only retreats. Surrounded by the Hunter’s best wineries and restaurants, they offer visitors the choice between quiet weekend getaway and a true Hunter Valley experience.

Leaves and Fishes is a family affair with all family members, Damian, Sharon, Jacob, Madeleine and Loui both helping to build the business in the beginning and also working there throughout the past nine years.
